Interiors (2007)
Interiors is a three-part vertical dance piece by
choreographer Amelia Rudolph with an interactive set by Todd
Laby that celebrates, and questions assumptions about, every
day life. It reframes movement, relationships and values
in the context of the interior of a house. The house is defined
in part by a climbable flying dinner table and an elegant
oversized picture frame. Built so dancers can move in, on,
around and through them, the set pieces are a springboard
for the lyrical, minimalist and highly physical three-dimensional
choreography. The work seeks to turn everyday life on its
side to unearth the beauty of the quotidian and expand the
ordinary to include the absurd.
